The Kejetia market is the biggest open air market in West Africa. For two days we got intentionally lost amongst its over 10,000 stores and stalls.

According to our AIR co-coordinator the train to Kumasi has not been arriving to the station at least for the five last years. The Market has now extended to on the train tracks and occupies the train station and its platforms.

Trust us at this market you find pretty much everything…

If not from stalls, the products are sold from bowls that are typically carried on the head. From there is convenient to sell for example tooth paste.

As usual a lot of herbs, but then also a lot of so typical ingredients.

And at the juju (refereeing to traditional west African religions, some call it witchcraft or superstition) the merchandise get more peculiar.

And the market provided us with a selection of Nollywood films (including films from Ghana). A lot of the movies also reflect on the occult often having heavy moralizing message.

The two days we spent at the market were extremely intense, yet definitely the most interesting part of Kumasi.
