Introduction
Overdrive Conference is an event that wants to be the leader in the field of the computer security and hacking nationwide. The main idea comes from a group of students of the University of Girona who see an opportunity in the domain of the computer security. The principal objective is to approach all those people which are interested in this discipline, either professional or amateur, through series of conferences and other free activities that we will provide.
In recent years, due to the evolution of the ITC in our daily life, the role that plays the computer security has been growing continually and exponentially to the point that it is a key piece to rely the tools that the net gives to us. This is the reason/motive/incentive that makes us assume as convenient and necessary to educate with all the things related to the topic.
Relevance and impact of the event
OverdriveConference pretends to become a pioneering congress in Girona with the presence of prestige attenders worldwide in the field of the computer security and hacking; and involved and active members of the international hacking community, hacking which turns out to be an interesting topic to a lot of people. Thus said, we give a major emphasis on the amount of importance that this Congress will perform. For all the things stated, we believe in the interest at the creation of synergies between all the parts directly or indirectly involved on Overdrive: either Mass media
level from different countries, much business as possible, public administration, high schools, lecturers and all the people interested in going.
Internally, in order to approach to the target audience, we dispose of different channels to guarantee a direct and effective communication. That channels are formed by an own web, the presence on social media and a corporative e-mail. All of them created and maintained by a group of people specialized in the world of communication so as to ensure a fluent communication.
Who we are?
OverdriveConference is mainly composed by a group of young implied students and experimented professors that pretend to make available to every assistant the kind of formation level that better adapts them, from the most elementary to the most technical, at the same time that everybody enjoys the fraternal spirit that characterizes the hacker community.
This group of restless young men and professors belong to different areas of the science: students and professors of different kinds of engineering, of marketing, economics and others. Even their differences, they are shown united just for a unique purpose: guarantee the free and safe future of the technological progress and experiment while they have fun with technology. However, they don’t work underground, but several entities are behind the organization so as to lend support and assurance to the great success of the event. Some of these organizations are the mentioned University of Girona or the Catalan association for the free software or better known as Cat+. It has to be mentioned that this performance despite counting with a really important work and volunteers behind, it is of need of external financing in order to ensure the future viability of the Congress.
Where and when?
OverdriveConference will be placed in the city of Girona. Recently well-known because it took part in most important series of the moment, Games of Thrones. Thanks to its history and privileged situation we see a really nice opportunity to place this city on the very first world line in any field. OverDriveConference will be heald the last weekend of November. The Congress will be divided in two day conferences. On the first day we will focus on the divulgation of more commercial issues/themes for mostly the amateur public, to who we will pretend to become on a more directly way. This is why we will divide the conferences along the day, in order to guarantee the assistance of most of the public. During the second day we will emphasis the orientation of the conferences towards a more international and totally technical, reaching the public more specialized on the
subject, just in order to give importance to the success into the professional world of hacking and not only focus into the amateur public. This second day will close with a roundtable of experts to discuss about different technical topics about the future of computer security; all in all to exchange ideas and contacts.
